Several comments on Top Gear were made about the umbrellas.

Okay but.

The Rolls Royce Dawn is £250,000, 6.6litre V12 with 563bhp, and two umbrellas (some other stuff too but forget that).

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

My ‘Piglet’ is a Skoda Superb hatchback is £25,000, 1.4TSi ACT with 148bhp, and two umbrellas.

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

With the change from £250,000 - £25,000 (£225,000) I could get a new Bentley Continental 6.0 W12 GTC with 626bhp, for £185,000, no umbrellas though.

Kinja'd!!!

Still have £40,000 change.

Now if someone could give me £225,000 please.

That’s really cool. I wish my Subaru had that except I rarely use umbrellas.

I was gonna make a post about that, but... I guess things are going to get worse before they get better.

Your Skoda has umbrellas, no ugly visible shut lines for the hood, and a better color blue painted on it.

It’s officially better than a Rolls-Royce.

I’ll be honest. In the Mk2 Superb prior to the new one I only used the umbrella two or three times in three years but it’s nice to know it’s there.

I’ll take the Bentley myself. Unless I want to pretend I’m a rapper, then I’d take the Roller.

I don’t need either, since my dad is going to let me rock one of these once we get it back to our house (not ours, but it’s the exact same color and body type)-

With regard to Brexit. What’s done is done. The people have voted (I voted remain) and now we have to work with what we have and carve out a new place. Nobody really knows what will happen and when.

Like in any marriage there is ups and downs and a divorce is the unknown. A larger number have chosen divorce so there’s no point dwelling on the fact, what’s done is done. It’s how we progress from this moment on that matters.

With Top Gear, people wanted change and the change isn’t exactly what they wanted while others wanted it to stay the same and it didn’t (I guess very much like the E.U. referendum but we won’t see how that pays off for some time yet).

Very nice.

For me I could have the Bentley, my Skoda Superb hatchback and a Skoda Superb Sportline estate with a 278bhp 2.0TSi engine and still have some change.

We can’t do anything about the vote now.

Just got to pick ourselves up, dust ourselves off and get on with it.

It’s the British way.

The WWII ‘make do and mend spirit’.

I’m not sure I would buy a Bentley or a Rolls if I were rich. They’re all not much more than the car equivalent of going up to everyone’s ear and screaming, “ I HAVE MORE MONEY THAN YOOOOOOOOOU ”. I really don’t care for that.

Actually, I’m pretty sure something like this would happen if I became rich.

It’ll take at least two years to separate the U.K. from the E.U.

It’s down to how the separation is handled but nobody can say or predict what will happen so personally I’ll take each day as it comes and work from there.

It’s essentially a VW Passat but cheaper and more practical.

A sunnier picture. The blue is almost alive with the changing light.

I love how the bonnet has no shut line gaps too, it’s hidden in the crease starting at the rear of the headlight leading down the side of the car.

What % more British does a car become by having built in umbrellas?

Kinja'd!!! Svend > CalzoneGolem
06/27/2016 at 10:00

Kinja'd!!!1

I don’t know. The Skoda Superb has had umbrellas since the Mk1 (rebadged VW Passat) but it had them in rear door bins, the Mk2 had them in built in recesses in the rear door one the left hand side only. Now the Mk3 has them in both front doors.

Kinja'd!!! Svend > GE90man

Which doors are they in? The Skoda had them in the rear but has them in both front doors on the current Mk3.

only on the drivers door

Kinja'd!!! Svend > GE90man

Our Mk2 was weird in that it only has one and it was the rear left hand door regardless of whether the car was LHD or RHD. Which suited RHD cars as the rear occupants exited onto the pavement/sidewalk.

Kinja'd!!!

The Mk3 has them in both front doors (probably makes more sense really).

I think the hatchback has a nicer profile. But it really works in both hatchback and estate. Either won’t let you down.

Autocar have a red estate on long term test and the writer has been taking it on holidays with his family and loves it.

the hatch has a nice profile but im an estate man, love me an estate.

and the fact i have kids and a baby so i need the space and height for lots of crap/moving furniture, if i didnt have to do any of that i probably get a hatchback tbh

Kinja'd!!! Svend > bingham123

Ye’, we loved our Mk2 estate but it had too much wasted space. I could get all of my stuff in the boot and still close the loadspace cover.

Kinja'd!!!

But for a family. It’s ideal.

((sorry it wasn’t Autocar, it was Autoexpress)).
